Museum of the Gulf Coast in Port Arthur is a unique treasure to Southeast Texas! It is a wonderful place to plan a field trip with your homeschool buddies or as a co-op! There are events, activities, and special exhibits all throughout the year.
The Museum of the Gulf Coast combines conventional and unconventional methods to tell the exciting story of the Texas – Louisiana Gulf Coast region.
The Museum of the Gulf Coast tells the exciting story of the Texas / Louisiana Gulf Coast region, beginning with paleontology and biology. Permanent exhibits include a section on Native Americans, European contact, the Civil War, economic and cultural growth, the petroleum industry, and the maritime history of the region. The Museum’s second floor is dedicated to the many internationally-recognized musicians and athletes who call the Gulf Coast home.
The Museum offers five interactive hands-on programs that give youth an opportunity to connect with Gulf Coast heritage and culture through exhibit tours, role playing, and hands-on activities. Make the Connection programs serve youth groups including schools, boy/girl scouts, home school groups, summer camps, after school programs, etc.
Schedule an outing for an end-of-the-year trip for or squeeze in some FUN (ahem, “learning”) during the blazing heat of SETX summers!
