Join Dr. Dave Stovall of Vanguard Classical Academy as he demonstrates the need to develop reasoning skills in your home school.Throughout their lives, students will be called upon daily to make critical judgements, many of which can significantly impact their future.  Having the ability to reason well is an essential component to good and reliable judgement making.  Regrettably, many students fail to develop this capacity for rational thought and find themselves vulnerable to clever arguments and propaganda.

Studying Formal Logic supplies students with the well established techniques and sound principles foundational to correct reasoning.  Students need to be prepared to recognize “good” arguments, to discern between what is true and false, to identify logical fallacies and to arrive at truth by proper logical analysis.  This workshop will describe how and why the study of Logic should become an integral portion of your homeschool program.Dave Stovall earned a degree in Biochemistry from Texas A&M and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from The University of Texas.  In 2012, he helped found Vanguard Classical Academy in Beaumont, TX, a university-model school blending the best of the traditional classroom with that of homeschooling.  In addition to practicing dentistry in Southeast Texas, Dave also teaches Introductory Worldview and Logic Classes at Vanguard.
